Just finished working with the absolutely gorgeous Anne Hathaway, styling her hair for the  THE DARK KNIGHT RISES – London Premiere

I must admit, she just dazzled in a stunning Gucci halter gown with a keyhole opening at the back and the effortless light finishing touch to her elfin crop, which she had cut short for Les Miserables, just made the whole look fresh and young.

Nothing enhances a beautiful bone structure more than a cute short haircut and Anne's modern pixie is the perfect example: It's feminine, alluring, classy and downright stunning. The crop visually summarizes much about this trend for 2012  It’s about short sides and an ever-so-slightly longer top and fringe, with the top and the sides blending perfectly. In essence, that makes the current pixie crop a comeback of the 1960s version of the haircut, then popularized by the likes of Mia Farrow.

A few tips to style and get the best out of short hair :

Don't force this type of hair - enjoy it. Short haircuts are very low maintenance. The secret is not to over style just simply play with you hair to achieve texture - twisting, scrunching, smoothing and defining individual sections.

Step 1: Work a walnut size amount of Wellaflex mousse into towel dry hair using a wide toothed comb /skeleton brush to distribute evenly.

Step 2: Dry your hair with the natural fall & growth using your fingers or a skeleton brush to keep your style fresh, cool and modern loose looking.

Step 3: (optional) to enhance a spiky or sleek or straight texture use the new Braun Satin Range Hair Straightener -separate a small section before you start as this make it easier to control the result (equal to the size of the ceramic field of the straightener)

Step 4:  Hairspray is a great alternative to wax specially if you have fine hair. To achieve texture in a style you can spray hairspray directly onto the fingers and use you fingers to pick out and define sections. I recommend Wella hairspray as it gives perfect hold & texture. If you are using this method you need to act quickly before the spray dries, so just focus on one section at a time.
